Best Socks for Tennis Shoes and a Kilt?

I know about kilt hose up in the winter and kilt hose down with boots and no sox with sandals...but I'm still trying to figure out which type of sock look best when wearing tennis shoes with a kilt and not wearing kilt hose.

Have looked at lots of galleries and lots of pics and what to wear with a kilt and tennis shoes that looks good still seems elusive to me. Pushing down kilt hose seems to overpower the tennis shoes. Wearing crew socks seems like somehow it just doesn't look right...

How do you guys do this....or do you just avoid teenie runners with kilts?

    Thanks,

    Ron

Bingo!! I just don't think the look is very me. If I want to wear my near Pumas, I will just wear some cargo or sport shorts.

IMHO, if its a tennis shoe situation, it woudl mean a solid or casual (non-tartan) kilt.
In that instance, w/tennis shoes, i think the standard white socks (NOT THE ONES WITH THE COLORED BANDS AT THE TOP) are fine & shoudl be scrunched down - they look silly pulled all the way up to the calf. Either that or wear the ones that dont come any higher than the heel so you cant see then above teh shoe at all.
    ITS A KILT, G** D*** IT!

I agree, tennis/running shoes and a tartan kilt just don't work. If you have need to wear tennis shoes, grap you <insert american kilt maker's name here > kilt and go with it.

Tartan kilts work best with ghillies, boots, or in some cases some types of leather sandles without hose. Not much else that I have seen does the kilt justice.

...and leopard print ANYTHING shouldn't be even associated with a tartan kilt, unless it is the hide of a leopard you killed yourself.

Ive never worn tennis shoes with the kilt yet ,but now that my Freedom kilt is on its way, I might do it. In that case, I will wear the really low cut or ankle length socks. You are still wearing socks, but they will not distract from the kilt nor from the shoes.

I often wear my kilt (tartan that is) with my all black Converse ALl-Star. I wear with the hose up or down, or with low cut socks in the summer, and it doesnt look like formal attire, but I get nothing but compliments.
