Black on black on Black (kilt ninja style for wedding)
Hello,
This is my first post here.getting married in March to a girl with scottish parents (she was born here in New Zealand). I orginally agreed to kilts to apease the Mother in Law but have since got excited about it.
I have just order 4 Night Stalker kilts from SWK (actually 5 because I stuffed up the order). Anyway I am looking to go black belt, black, sporan, black hose, and a black shirt either jacobite or plain). I wanted to go plain black kilt but decided it looked to much like a tennis skirt.
Does anyone have pictures of someone in a simialr ensemble so I can get an idea of how it will look?

Welcome to X-marks, and congrats on the upcoming nuptials. The nightstalker is a handsome, subdued tartan, and I think you'll be pleased. For a wedding, I would go with a plain shirt, but that's just a matter of personal taste.
Best regards,
Jake

I would go for the plain shirt as I would think that a Jacobite shirt may look too costume like.

I'm not a fan of the Jacobite shirts unless at Highland games or renfairs. My advise would be to go with a plain black shirt.
Disclaimer - I have been tried and convicted as a "Kilt Snob" so please be aware any statement I make may be biased towards tradition and good taste. LOL

I also vote the plain black shirt. Somewhere on this forum is a picture posted by Panache with nightstalker kilt and black hose, black shirt, etc.

Before you do something drastic, go out and rent "So I Married An Ax Murderer" with Mike Myers and Nancy Travis. Skip forward to the wedding scene and take a good look at how good Mike Myers looks in a kilt. Beg, borrow, or rent a black Bonnie Prince Charlie, buy some snow white kilt socks (not oatmeal, not fluffy acrylic) with solid color flashes, borrow a sgian dhub with a stone in the pommel, buy a white tuxedo shirt with a black bow tie plus black wingtip shoes. Black is not the color for a wedding. If you have to wear a Jacobite shirt, wear a white one with a colorful vest over it. This will be the handsomest day of your life and you can trust me on that.

We are talking about a wedding here?
My opinion - Plain black shirt!
Keep the Jacobites for the ren-fare thingies.
