I am also one who's waist and hip measurements are pretty close to the same (found that out making an X-Kilt), so I can often slip on and off mine. But I do see the advantages of buckling each time, especially when tucking shirts. My USAK from Ron has the Velcro closures, so it makes it very easy to "un-buckle" as it were.

No Rob, you suck in your gut and it falls to the floor... Bet it really breaks the ice at parties!

I slip my sport kilt on and off because it has an elastic waistband, my other kilts I buckle on and off, I too have trouble reaching the buckles so I slide the kilt around a bit so the buckle is in the front in order to buckle it up,then slide it back so it is straight.

It depends on which kilt I'm wearing. Right now, the belly is a little bigger than my lack of butt so a few slip on and off with no real problem. Others have to be un-strapped.

Through the first fifty years of my life the waist and hip were about the same size. The kilt could slide off with a little bit of pulling. I never did this as the kilt would have pressures on its stitching that could have caused future problems. The particular kilt is a family heirloom that I wish to see on wearer number 6 without my supplying any stretch marks. This is no longer a possibility as the hips are much larger than the waist.

I unbuckle to put it on, but slip it off quite easily.

Those parties are long gone sad to say.

I do not see how anyone can put a kilt on without unbuckling it surely it would pull the shirt up round the waist and it should be hard to tuck the shirt into kilt after it is on getting it off is more likely I always buckle the kilt before hanging it up

I unbuckle. It causes less stress on the kilt if you do it that way. Slip off would IMHO would wear out the kilt faster than you want to.
