In. A kilt looks much shorter when the shirt is out, no matter what level the waist is at. Also "out" helps accentuate our girth (those of us of more substance.) "In" helps accentuate the natural V shape.

IN

Why wear a belt and fancy buckle if no one can see it. Might as well leave it at home.

IN accentuates the waist. OUT accentuates the girth.

Regards

Chas

This is the rare one where I have a strong opinion - In. Wearing pants or shorts out looks fine, but wearing a kilt, even a modern kilt worn with a T-shirt (which is what I wear most), I think in looks a lot sharper, in part because it doesn't conceal the pleats.

Best regards,

Jake

Hawaiian shirts are the exception to the rule.

I say "In" also. But, as ohters have noted there are always exceptions.

That's the problem, most of the rogue's shirts are the bowling style/ panel shirts. I'll work on encouranging him to tuck in his shirts, and if he wears a bowling/panel shirt to wear a Tshirt under it and leave the shirt open.

I wish I could find him the Tee I saw this weekend. On the front said "Go Kilt?" The back said "Of course there is nothing under it. If there was it would be a skirt."

I'd say in, but I agree there can be some out looks which are OK. I have kind of a "rockabilly" look for lack of a better word, which incorporates a mechanics shirt out and open over a tshirt. Probably would not go over well here, but I think it works in a certain way.
