| | | Casual shoes with a kilt?
OK. Brogues are far too expensive for me at this time. Usually, I wear a pair of black gym shoes with my kilt with regular black socks.
I wanted to know what casual-type shoes look best with and/or without kilt hose.
Advice?

Hiking boots or work boots work very nicely. I've also seen people wear combat boots. Me personally, I wear my hiking/work boots (Wolverines).

I have some lightweight hiking shoes I've been wearing with my kilts when dressed casually. A while back my wife informed me, in no uncertain terms, that the shoes I had just didn't look right. She said they didn't have enough "heft" to balance the look of the kilt and made it look more like a costume than a real garment. I found a pair of black Rockport hiking boots to balance the look and these have been blessed by my personal fashion expert.
YMMV

In the summer, I typically wear flip-flops or sandals, but in the winter usually I wear hiking boots. Whatever floats you're boat, really.

I have worn black tennis shoes and sandals with mine. And I have to admit have never been confronted by the KILT police yet. Wear what you are comfortable in.

I have some nice black Airwalk skate shoes that look great. I wear them mostly with black hose but they look good with regular black socks too. To complete the casual look I do not tuck in my T-shirt, which is also always black. My kilt is black too... I like black ... a lot!

I wear every shoe in my closet, except my cycling shoes and my motorcycle riding boots.
