Ceileidh Range

Hi, there

Looking for an inexpensive every-day-kilt, but made from wool, i came across this:

They offer 100%wool , 16oz (5-6yd) kilts , named their "Ceileidh Range" .
I emailed them and I was told that those kilts have a kilt selvedge, so they are not hemmed at the bottom. To me this seems to be a decent offer for a decent price (around 100GBP)
Is anyone here familiar with the quality of them? I´d appreciate your comments.

That's a good $200.00 U.S. plus shipping etc. Not very 'inexpensive' for a knock around kilt......

Yes, but for a kilt made of wool it seems to be not overprized. And I don´t mind shipping, for I´m living in Germany (inside EU), so there won´t be any additional taxes (shipping from UK to Germany is about 10-15GBP)
So you´re right. Shipping to the US would be more expensive.

Interesting that they don't publish the number of yards of tartan used to make the kilt, (unless I just couldn't find it,) but if you look at their jackets, they say they are meant to be worn with the "6 yard" Ceilidh Range kilt.

Even so, it makes the Stillwater Heavyweights look like a bargain.

You´re right. The SWK heavyweights look (and in fact are) a bargain, as far as I know. But ordering a SWK and shipping to Germany (50-60 bucks) would be almost the same price.
What i´d like to know, is: How would one of those getshirty kilts compare to,let´s say, a SWK? Does anyone here own one of them?

I can't speak to the actual kilt you are buying but I have done business with Get Shirty. I bought my 2 boys kilts from them recently. The kilts are very well made and I was very pleased. They were easy to deal with and the shipping was superb. I ordered the kilts on Thursday and they arrived (in the US) on Tuesday.

I would guess if they put as much quality into the boy's kilts that your choice will probably be quite good.

One thing though you do know they are not made with Scottish fabric?

And yes, I presume, their wool does not come from Scotland. Otherwise the price would be another, I think. But, you know, I don´t care about that, if it´s decently worked up and durable, as I´m going to wear it for hiking in winter. For "heartbeat"

Good prices and shipping for you is not an issue. The one thing that bothers me is that they only have your waist measurement they list the length of the kilt to be 24.5" that is quite long, and there is no mention of the hip measurement. As I do not own one of their kilts I can not advise on that score, it does seem like a good price but then again you get what you pay for.

When I ran into their booth at the Glasgow trade show 2 Januarys ago, they were Pakistani acrylic kilts and wool blends and whatnot. I know NOTHING about their quality and do not pretend to (so please don't take this as a "dig" on them).

I've heard rumblings from customers in the UK about them... maybe Hamish or another UK Xmarkser could weigh in...
