    Clansman knitwear

Has anyone ever done business with this web site? They have some great deals - which always leaves me a little nervous.

They also have some pre-made kilts on clearance (I'm guessing from people that order and then bail) for pretty cheap prices - 16oz 8yard traditional for $300 American.

I haven't yet, but considered buying from them. I bought from www.scottishkilts.net instead after someone mentioned Clansman was slow. Scottishkilts had my order in my hand in a bit less than 4 weeks from order confirmation, and that's from Glasgow.

    4 Weeks!!

Most places are telling me 8-16 weeks! I was thinking of getting something for my friend's wedding in June, but figured I had missed the date that I could order in time for. Maybe now I can!

    Thanks for the tip, Bubba!

    Hi all,
just my .02$, but I would avoid Clansman Knitwear (scottishclansman.com)like the plague, their customer service SUCKS!

    Clansman Customer Service does...............

Concurr with John's assessment of Clansman knitwear. Although I got a great deal on my formal 8yd kilt and the quality is superior, it took months to arrive: ordered it in FEB and my kilt arrived in July. Go figure.
I do highly recommend Tartan Web. Ordered a tailor-made Sherriffmuir formal kilt jacket and it arrived within 4 weeks and fit to a tee. My wife took the measurement as they instructed and their tailor did the rest.

    John and CelticRogue,

Thanks for the warnings guys. I was just about to order a sporran from them (The semi-dress for $100) but I don't think I will now. Not if their service is that bad. I wasn't really sure of the quality of the sporran anyway (hard to trust something that seems too good to be true.)

I'll probably just order a day sporran somewhere else.

    Too good to be true

    Rufus:
    Good call about the sporran.
I got a dress sporran from Clansman for what appeared to be a great price: $85.00 regular $100.
It is ok but quality is fair and the metal ornamentation at hte top is rather cheap. Live and learn.
Will get good stuff this summer when I'm in Scotland.

Oh man, I think that was the one I was looking at. I was skeptical because they said the sporran was fur, but never said what kind, or if it was even real. It could have been dyed rat for all I know.

Sorry you got a raw deal. After what I've learned now, I'm really glad that I didn't get anything from these guys.
