    Exclamation Emergency Kilt cleaning!!!

So i was out in my Garage fixing a few brooms that my son broke at school. While i was drilling the hole to thread a leather thong through, I had mistakenly gotten silicone adhesive all over the left side of my UK Original. Please tell me there are a few crafts men out there who can aid me in restoring my kilt. It is now going through the wash for the second time on Heavy Duty, in cold water. I have applied some stain remover to it. I am hesitant of using Goo gone or a solvent on the fabric.

    advise needed!!!!

Congrats on your new working kilt!

Sorry, dont mean to make fun but I got bathtub calk all over one of mine. Only way I got it off was with a pocket knife scrape, which in turned screwed it up even more. Good luck, bud.

I would try the rubbing alcohol and then a gentle laundry soap. The alcohol SHOULD help break up the silicone (or at the very least diffuse it so the stains aren't so finely delineated)

Maybe acetone... but it's serious stuff... I would test on a bit you can't see first!

    Good luck!

odorless mineral spirits will break down the silicone but there may still be some odor from the mineral spirits. I've never tried to wash something that had mineral spirits on it so i cant attest to whether or not there will be any odor or residue afterward.

Kilted Rogue: What was point C) again? You weren't breathing in the Goof Off in a confined room for too long, were you? Are you still with us? Should we call 9-1-1? ;)

I would like to know if your technique worked for future reference.
