Full Sett and Half Sett?

I have been wondering what the difference between a half sett and a full sett is. I have seen it noted on several threads that SWK's are half setts. What is the difference?

Different types and weights of fabric have different size setts even in the same tartan. Acrylic, like the SWK's, tends to be smaller than wool. 13 oz. wool also tends to have a smaller sett size than 16 oz. wool.

The sett is the order of the pattern of thread color changes and how many threads of each color are used. This is the thread count. A half sett only uses half of that pattern. For example, the Black Watch tartan has a black line and also a double black line in each repeat of the sett's pattern. The half sett of the Black Watch only has the single black line, or it could have the double black line withoutthe the single line.

SWK was selling a half-set weathered dress Lamont kilt. It has the single tram line.
