| | | groom to be needing advice
HI guys, newbie to the forum say i'll take this chance to say hello.
Here it is, i'm getting married in July and naturally i'll be in the kilt, trouble i'm having is... I'm thinking of wearing a pair of lace up boots with the outfit?
Not a fan of brouges if im honest.
My fiance is happy with me doing it and keeps reminding me of the fact that it's my wedding and i shouldn't worry what other people think, BUT i do.
I guess i'm just looking for some advice and wondering if there is anyone out there who has took the plunge and donned the boots for a wedding?

Welcome, from Inverness-shire. I am sorry, but I wore brogues(not ghillies) to my weddings so I will not be much help with advice.

second, Depending on the boots I cant see any problems with it. But the best idea would be to put up some pics and se what the rabble think.

By 'brouges' do you mean the laces up the leg 'gillie brouges'? Plenty of folks here are not fans of those. Regular low quarter dress shoes are fine.
What's the rest of the outfit gonna be? Depending on the level of formality, boots may work.

Slanj do some formal-like boots that tie up like ghillie brogues and they look pretty good too. You may wish to check out their website.

I'm thinking of a black or grey tweed jacket, waistcoat and black shirt with maybe a 'grey spirit' tartan and going with the ruche tie and yes i was referring to the tie up the leg brouges forgot to mention it'll be black hose

I understand your aversion to ghillies. I think buckle brogues would look better than boots for a wedding.  |

Wear what makes you happy, under all circumstances.
...that said, your attire will have a much more cohesive level of formality if dress shoes are worn in place of the boots.

You can most certainly skip the ghillie brogues...
...Arlen's wedding outfit stands out for me as one of the most tasteful that I've seen....though I can't seem to locate it...he wore, if I remember correctly, some very simple dress shoes.
