    Hebridean Heather

I recently purchased a kilt in Hebridean Heather.
    http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar....aspx?ref=1654

I also have a charcoal tweed Argyle and vest.

I recently wore this outfit with charcoal hose, and it looked very sharp, but I'm wondering if some claret hose might not be a bit better. Or, would they overwhelm the kilt? If I wore claret hose, would a dark red shirt be too much, or should I stick to white? What say the rabble?

Well, any opinions you get will be only personal, but I like the claret hose idea. I'm never very big on brightly coloured shirts, particularly with a jacket and tie. White is always good looking and proper too. (And that from a guy who almost only wears black shirts!)

Claret is kind of a bloody red. I like it. I think it would look pretty good. And a dark red shirt with maybe a black waistcoat might look cool with them.
God bless the kilted everywhere and all who see them!

The kilt! It gets in your blood and cannae be removed through medicine or magic.

There seems to be a trend across the world towards black/grey/dark shirts - don't quite understand it myself. White, pastel and tattersall, I think work best in most situations.

I think most shades of red hose are a good investment.

I'm not a fan of dark shirts with coat and tie. I'd look for a tattersall pattern shirt with alternating red and blue (or black) stripes. The claret hose would be nice, but so might some light blue hose to bring out that thinner stripe.

I considered blue, but the blue in the actual kilt is honestly so dark that it's almost black. I'm not sure how light blue would work... maybe navy?

I think claret hose would look just great with that tartan, and add a bit of color to the outfit!

As you can see a lot of votes for the claret hose, add mine too. As for the shirt I would suggest to steer clear of the darker shirts with the charcoal arygll. I'm a tattersalls shirt man myself, so that's where my vote goes

My tank is MacLaren ancient and when I went to the clan meet a few weeks ago, the chairman of the clan society was wearing a pair of deep burgundy hose also with his ancient. They looked great and I want a pair or two.
The colours I have are lovat blue, bottle green, navy blue and a pair of black. So I need something reddish one feels.
I think the burgundy would go well with your Hebridean Heather.
