| | | Help locating a PV tartan!
I need some help gents, and I know I'm probably going to find myself out of luck. I would love to have myself a belted plaid in the kerr tartan, any variation of it. But the thing is...I want polyviscose. Why you ask? Because my intention is that I would be wearing it out doors, and it would be seeing some hard use...so I'd prefer something that I wouldn't cry at the thought of dirtying! Am I out of luck, or is there somewhere I could find such a tartan?

You might try searching Marton Mills. They do weave a number of p/v tartans.

How about going with 11 oz wool since you're only looking for a great kilt? It's not as cheap as PV, but it is a bit cheaper than 13 or 16 oz wool... It'll also be a little cooler in the summer months.

I was suprised last night! dropped some tomato sauce on a BarbT masterpiece Came right out with water and a little dish soap, and a spot rinse. Good as new. I like the lightweight wool idea.

Geoff Withnell | And there's also teflon coated wool, which my kilt suit is made from, thank God.

(forget for a moment the obvious paradox of putting Scotch-gard on a Scottish kilt)

Scotch-guard does work on wool, but it will occasionally discolor fabric. You want to test it on a piece that isn't visible when it's worn, before you use it on the whole garment.
