    Heritage of Scotland

Is anyone familiar with the Heritage of Scotland on-line store? I want to purchase a tartan evening gown for my wife. They have a gown that she likes, and we asked how we could get a fabric swatch. We've not gotten any response. Of course, they may be busy, but as I am not familiar with them, and the gown is not inexpensive, I thought I'd ask what kind of dealings others have had with Heritage of Scotland.

    Heritage of scotland

They are operated out of Scotland by Gold Bros. They may not answer till the following day due to the time difference. I just recieved my jacket/vest from them. I will post pix of them soon they are nice for the price. they are 100%wool and fit great. As for anything else they sell, I can't comment. I am rather happy about my purchase but some people avoid them because they are a Pakistani Family run business, not homegrwon Scots. Of course, I'm not Home grown either, Im a Scot grown in America. I always say, Buy what you can afford and like. Thats what your ancestors would done. Hope this helps.

I've dealt with one of HoS's brother companies a couple of times. Can't say I had any complaints with them. Fast and accurate. I didn't have any special interaction, though. Just ordered my stuff and it arrived.

I ordered remnants and swatches from three different vendors in mid to late December 2010.

The fastest for me, via Royal Mail from the UK to Alaska was 3 weeks.

Second fastest for me was 8 weeks, 12-18-2010 to 2-18-2011.

Still waiting on the third vendor.

I would encourage you to look through the in stock remnants at Scotweb. A remnant of double wide half a meter long is priced like a single 9x9 inch swatch, with similar shipping cost.

FWIW I have never ordered from Heritage of Scotland.

I think heritage of Scotland is good. I have never bought a kilt from them but accessories are always what I expect. I think the entire Pakistani thing is rubbish. They have their place. I don't know about something that NEEDS to be correct. Bagpipe parts or kilts but a gown highland accessories. I think its all ok.

Your right about the Pakistani bias. And I agree, it has its place, especially for people such as myself who want to have the option of affording my own traditional attire. Cheers !

I have two low cost kilts from them. I was looking for low cost kilts for casual daily wear and these suited the need. They are made from PV material. The order was quickly dispatched. It took maybe a week for them to be delivered to my house in the US.

They call this one "Freedom". Looking at the tartan registry I can not find anything with "freedom" in the name that looks like this. I assume this is just a fashion tartan. The red one is MacDonald.

This line comes in only 24" length but there is a hem if you need to adjust the length

Care instructions for this particular line of kilts

Have a lightweight leather vest from them that I'm happy with. That said, be aware that that they operate at the "value" rather than the "quality" end of the spectrum....
