Hiding/wearing devices?

Here is a question I came up with today. I'm enjoy my first day kilted, but have one thing that is irksome.

I'm a diabetic on an insulin pump. So, I have this thing about the size of a pager attached to me by a slim tube. Normally I keep it on my belt when wearing pants. But, I'm not using a belt with my kilt, so I just have it clipped to the top of the kilt. It doesn't feel odd, but it definitely doesn't look right.

I was thinking of stashing it in my sporran and just having to live with the tube showing. But I figured I would throw this one out there and see if any one had any advice or experience with anything similar in nature.

I have no experience of such things, but just do as you do if no one comes up with a "cunning plan", as the option I should imagine, is unthinkable.

What's the weather like in Ohio?

I ask because you could probably have a small pocket sewn into the inside of a waistcoat, that would completely conceal both pump and hose. If you can get away with wearing a dressy vest on your kilted outings.

Would you consider a pouch, made up in the same tartan as your kilt, either pinned or velcro'ed to the kilt at the waist? Or maybe just a drawstring bag that sits on top of the pump after you have clipped it in place...

I thought about doing a leg holster, but it can be inconvenient as I do have to get to the pump every so often.

I do like the idea of a pouch or cover in the same tartan, that does sound like a workable solution that would look good.

A waist coat is something I would consider for early spring and late fall. The weather can get rather warm and humid around here in the summer.

I don't know what they call them, but I've seen pictures of people wearing small, leather pouches that are a bit more rigid and might offer more protection for the pump than a cloth pouch. I think some ren-faire folk wear them as purses/pockets. They are usually clipped to a belt, but you should be able to attach them to the waist of your kilt.

a reed pouch that pipers wear might work out rather well for you. I've no eperience with pumps so not sure aout them but seems like a good idea. I've also seen some sporrans that have the normal pouch along with one sewn into the back of the sporran usually to hold a phone or smokes. that might be another option for you.
