how do I make a kilt buckle work on large belt?
I found a neat Celtic type not on an old belt that I had, but it just doesn't fit on my 2 1/2" kilt belt. I am afraid it might be cast and if I try to bend anything it will break.
I know on here there was a way to make your kilt buckles work on larger belts, but I searched and couldn't find the information. Anyone remember that? It was something with a loop of wire or something?

What is the width of the buckle? You can make a strap out of leather to fit the buckle and Chicago rivet the strap to the 2 1/2" belt The keeper will hide the rivet on one side whilst the buckle will cover the other.

Hello, just got time to do this! I hope someone can find the link that was on here before about how to do this, but here are the pictures. The area where the belt slides through is just under 2 1/2" so the belt doesn't fit.

What I said above would work. It would be similar to the way a Ranger Belt Works. Or have a belt made up to fit this

You could also notch the belt in that location . . . but it wouldn't take much to make a new one. Got any local leather shops?

Here's the system I was talking about.

The strap of course can be shorter. If you use Chicago rivets (screw back rivets) you can easily add the buckle or take it off.

Interesting, I read your reply and envisioned something entirely different.
I pictured a smaller strip that wrapped around sandwiching the end of the belt with the chicago screws securing the sandwich and creating a new loop for the buckle.
Now I am not sure which is better....
