Keeping It Clean

Greetings all
I have a somewhat delicate question. Much of the joy in wearing the kilt is freedom and comfort, and regimental is the way to go. So, what do you do about soiling the kilt when sitting down? No matter how fastidious I am about keeping clean, sometimes there is something that needs to be cleaned off.''
Underwear would solve the problem, and spoil my joy.

Hope someone can shed some light...

I've never had the problem, but a freind of mine swears by baby wipes. theyre the best thing for keeping fresh while camping as well

Any kind of spots can usually be cleaned from Utilikilts with a bit of soap and water and some light scrubbing.

If you are going to use baby wipes, make sure you buy the flushable. Once you try it, you may never go back.

I can say only that in all my 54 years of kilt wearing, I have never experienced, nor heard of, this 'problem'.

The content of another thread hereabouts had me concerned where there was talk of 'built-in' underwear being provided with a certain style of kilt. Now I am getting seriously worried about my fellow kilt wearers...........

Kilts can be cleaned, of course, but I personally would rather not soil the kilt to begin with. Baby wipes and impeccable hygiene will both go a long way, but of course, age and other factors might make our control of certain functions less then exemplary. In that case the only two options are really PC exercise or an undergarment. Do a google for PC or kegel exercises if you want more info, (they're useful for men too). There is nothing shameful about wearing underwear, just spend some time finding something you find extra comfortable. There are a lot of underwear options for us nowadays: stretchy/soft cotton boxers, boxer briefs, briefs etc. You'd be surprised how comfortable some of them can be. Besides, you wouldn't want to flash and show off a spot on the inside of your kilt now, would you?

This issue will keep coming up and I will keep saying that loose fitting underwear is a lot easier to clean. I replace underwear daily for hygeine. I wouldn't like to wash a kilt each day.

Another option is to wear a very long shirt that will cover the vital areas!
