Unless you happen to be a senior NCO or officer of this regiment, I would NOT recommend wearing the rosettes.

I would agree. It is almost, like wearing another man's medals. Medals, like rosettes are earned. If they are not earned, then they shouldn't be worn.

Yes these "rosettes" as the Regiment calls them are a badge of rank, not a simple decoration.
Sergeants, Warrant Officers, and Officers wear these rosettes in conjunction with their badges of rank and a red or cimson sash. All go together as a set of things which indicate rank.

No. The rosettes are essentially kilt pins; the Buchan Pipe Band, which my clan society sponsors, wears a civilian version of rosettes in place of kilt pins.
Tell me more about your avatar, please. I can't quite make out the badge.

Richard,
Do you know what is the kilt pin that Pipe Major Stoddart is wearing between his rosettes?

I have a good clear photo of a different Pipe Major of the Royal Highland Fusiliers and his kilt pin doesn't look like a military kilt pin at all, but looks like the usual civilian sword-and-clan-crest style. Presumably the clan crest portion has the regimental badge, but the photo isn't clear enough to tell.
