I'm not a D&D man myself, but I'm with a group that plays Hero System (because apparently they don't think D&D is complicated enough). Since the game day is Saturday, and Saturday is kilt day, I'm almost always in my kilt (frankly most days I don't have to work in my scene shop or mow the lawn are kilt days). My group doesn't care... and in fact one of them ordered an Alt.Kilt (but i haven't seen him in it yet, but I've seen the kilt, and it is awesome!)
Wear your kilt. Tell them being manly enough to have a kilt gives +2 to all attacks! (And if your GM goes for it, can I join you game... my GM just gives me a dirty look when I suggest it)

I always wanted to do the hand-painted miniatures. Maybe I should drop in to a gaming store...it'd be pretty cool to have a hand-painted chess set of those things.

There's a scene in the film "Ronin"...ok, one of many scenes I really liked, where De Niro's character is taken to an old friend's chateau to fix a wound...the scene opens to show his friend (played by Michael Lonsdale) painting a miniature of a samurai warrior. The full scene is played out a few minutes later...

Indeed! While I MMORG, I have heard of DnD. However, everything I know comes from listening to a DM at work talk about the game and reading OOTS and Erfworld. Which reminds me, I better go get caught up.

We're playing Hero System as well. It wasn't until we were leaving after the game that the kilt was even acknowledged. One of the players said "It isn't often you see a guy in a kilt." I replied that I like the way it looks and it's really comfortable. Several of the guys thought that the comfort aspect made a lot of sense. All in all, it went well.

I was wearing my Matt Newsome box pleat kilt in Elliot Ancient with a redish-orange t-shirt (matched the red stripe in the kilt) and oatmeal hose (no flashes. I think I'll most likely end up wearing my other kilt for the next gaming session.

Best pic I can find of a 3-sided die. I don't know what the P-R-S are for, but it has the numbers on it, as well. The site shows the 5-sided die there, as well. My buddy is going to be using free labour (read: his 7th grade math students) to verify whether all these dice are truly "fair" and statistically accurate.

Hrm, I'll be at a ren faire next weekend, I might see if they have any 12-step assistants standing by.

I have no doubt. Almost ducked in to a game shop yesterday evening, then realized what would happen and stayed in the pub . I could totally get in to that. Now, if I had a good "book on tape" to listen to while I was painting, and a glass of whiskey, and run the audio through the mixer with some good piobaireachd...I think we're on to something here.

Just don't confuse your glass of whisky with the water you use to clean your brush. It's easier than you think.
