    Kilted on a motorcycle

I will be buying a new motorcycle shortly, already have approval from the Fiance and everything. My question for the rabble is this, riding a motorcycle in a kilt is not a good idea do to safety issues. so when you are traveling on a bike how do you transport your kilt to wear when you get off the bike. Thanks in advance for all the help everyone.

Check out this item. I don't have one but others have said it works great.

I roll mine up in a ball and throw it in a tank bag. When I'm at a destination I unroll it give it a quick snap and it's as good as new.
But that's with a leather kilt..it can take the abuse and look great.
If you use the search feature and you will find a number of threads on this topic along with the one Big Mickey linked to.

The other lady and I present at recent Vista Games kilt night got the giggles when the men entered a deeply serious discussion about packing kilts.

One tip has to do with pantyhose. Buy the cheapest pair you can find, cut the legs off the panty. Roll your kilt, stuff it into the leg. Same idea as that $70 item linked above but more like 99 cents! You could get fancy and place the second leg on from the opposite direction, creating a "top."

In the book "So You're Going To Wear The Kilt" it was suggested to use an old pair of your lady's nylons. It was also suggested that you could use a mailing of the appropriate size.

Out of curiosity, how is wearing a kilt while on a motorcycle dangerous? I mean yea I can see flashing passing motorists might cause some accidents but that could be cured with a little ingenuity.

When you go down and slide on the pavement, the kilt will not give you any protection. That's what motorcyclists wear leather pants.

The problem with riding in a kilt is two-fold, first there is the issue about the kilt flying up. the second is that it does not provided any protection in the case of an accident. When you get in an accident ( and if you ride you will eventually, there are only two kinds of people that ride those that have gone down and those that will). The two most common kinds of accidents are either a rider getting hit by a car driver that wasn't paying enough attention or a rider over estimating his or her own riding ability and incorrectly negotiating a turn or dropping the bike trying to park. Either the car situation or the over estimating often leaves a sliding down pavement or gravel or grass at a reasonably high rate of speed. any article of clothing that slides up exposes skin to the ground. When I used to ride all the time was before I started wearing a kilt, since that is now something that I enjoy and after a long ride I think that would be a lot more comfortable than wearing leathers all evening I would like to find a way to travel with them and have them look decent after a long day.
