Kilts at Epcot?

Not worried about wearing one, but possibly BUYING one. Love wearing one to the office, but my selection is pretty limited (2 SW) and I really would like to keep giving people at the office something new to talk about each day!

Anyway, we are going to be in Orlando next weekend for a reunion and will be going to Epcot at least one day. I know that the UK (United Kingdom in this case) pavilion has some shops and I believe that one of them is a Scottish apparel store. Anybody know if they stock kilts, and if so the quality? I would love to pick one up while I am there and I seem to have good luck fitting well into an off the rack kilt (well, for the 3 I have so far!).

Any help? And anybody else kilted going to be on O-Town next weekend (we will be there 10/14 - 10/17)?

I vaguely remember looking at kilts there in April and they were very, very expensive, but I totally forget if they were worth it.

Todd gave you good advice, Warrior. Put on that kilt and go see Off Kilter. The music is great, the show is fun and they wear kilts.

They are not to be missed.

Shay, I had come across a similar link while googling. I figure anything that they have will be expensive. Hey it's a tourist attraction and also Disney! However, it IS a vacation, so I can SPLURGE! Of course, the level of splurging is still subject to the restraint of my SO. Just have to find that special something (expensive) that she wants before we get to the UK pavilion!

Todd, I plan on catching offkilter, and being kilted when I do! Just checked out their website and I lovd their sound. I will give everybody an update when I get back!

I understand, but if it's a choice between spending a lot of money on something immediate but meh-okay, or spending the same amount on something awesome but with some time needed...

It's your money, obviously, but I've fallen into the trap of the 'get it where it's in front of me,' and been sorry on quite a few things.

Shay, right on! I am actually very glad that I bought Barb's book and read it. I feel like I have a much better understanding of how a quality kilt should be made and can evaluate is subjectively. I have already done that on the three I own right now. The SK (at least their off the rack) kilts are strictly for knocking around. It was the first one I got and wore in public because I did not know any better, but now I only wear it for daily activities that might mess up the 2 SW. My SW standard is a little better, but not much, and I love my SW HW. However, that may well change once I get my semi-trad from Rocky. I will also be doing the math when I visit the store at Epcot. One kilt now, or possibly 2-3 if I wait and order from someone here. Got to make sure that "instant gratification" urge is not followed in 2-3 weeks by the "what was I thinking" regrets.

Was at Epcot in June 2006 for my honeymoon. Went to Epcot in my Black Original UK. The shops in "Great Britain" didn't appear to have any real kilts. Just the touristy things of coats of arms, anything and everything with the word "Scotland" on it. Also lots of Scottish food. Bought some chocolate covered Walkers short bread in the shape of Mickey's Head. Saw a few tartan items like hats, scarves, etc. but in the normal 6 well known names/tartans. Royal Stewart, Black Watch, etc. Nothing really custom except the coats of arms/family heritage stuff. Which you order and come back in a few hours to pick up. Enjoy!
