Kilts and skiing
My family want me to take them to a ski resort this weekend.
Has anyone been skiing in snow kilted before? It would be nice to know what challenges lie ahead. I've never been skiing and may not even try, I don't have much interest. The kids will try snowboarding, I have even less interest in that.
thanks for any advice.

Graham, skiing is not a good activity for being kilted. That snow is COLD! If you've never been skiing you'll fall alot. Just think about that cold white stuff in tender places.

Bubba, I assume you've tried it then? I think the chairlift would worry me more than falling in snow :o

Skiing and Snow boarding for the first times involve many many falls on the bumm. It is just a fact it is just the simplest way to stop. (sit down) doing so in a kilt would definitly be Cold.

I've got to agree with Bubba. I used to ski/snowboard a lot before I hurt my knee. If it's your first time, expect to spend equal time between standing on skis and sitting on your butt in snow. Unless you're snowboarding, and then the ratio is about 20% standing to 80% butt/knee time. Brrrr! I suggest waterproof, insulated ski trousers for your first few times.
If you're just going to be hanging out in the lodge, then by all means wear your kilt while you're curled up next to the fire.

OH MAN!!!
As an avid ski-bum, that's really not a great idea.
Forget the ski lifts and the potential flashing.
Forget the occasional falls into the granular, jagged-edged ice.
Think about the COLD wind flying up the pleats!
Unless you want "the boys" stuck to places that will take the Spring thaw to make them release... DON'T DO IT!!!

Graham, I used to ski alot. It was bad enough getting snow up the back of my jacket. I don't want to think about it wearing a kilt!
Catching up to YOU??? HAHAHAHAHA!

Graham,
Don't rub it in with all that ski talk We are hot here and the focast is continued hot.
I have not skied for many years, but if your experience level is that of a beginner, you may not be able to stand much, you will be on the ground in one of many uncomfortable positions. Sitting in the lodge is not to bad at all, and being kilted, you can have many wonderful conversations.
Have fun regardless of what you decide to do!
