Knotts Berry Farm Trip (or Roller Coasters and Kilts)

A group of friends (including myself) are heading to Knotts Berry Farm Amusement park in Southern California in a few weeks because sometimes 30 year olds need to skip work and act like teenagers for a day. I was thinking I wanted to have fun, and be comfortable, and I would be coming off a week of work that involves lots and lots of climbing ladders (which means no kilts for me for a week ), I would wear my UK Workmans kilt for the day. It does well in the elements, is easy to clean, etc. Here is my question -- I've never done rides in my kilt -- I think Knotts has a rollrr coaster that suspends you....... Does anyone have any advice for kilts and theme parks, especially Coasters?

    Thanks,
    Chris

PS today we started scanning our wedding photos, so as soon as they are online, I'll post pics so everyone can see all six of us in my wedding in our kilts!

Been 30 years since I lived near Knotts but I remember the roller coaster had a safety bar thingie that came down onto your lap, imagine that would hold things in place.

If not, you certainly would have enough time on boarding the roller coaster to tuck the front of the kilt under your thighs. If your UK has those silly modesty snaps you might have found an actual functional use for them.

Or you could just take one of those thick black clips like you hold a stack of papers together with and clip it to the front and back of your kilt together after you are seated in the roller coaster.

Go have fun, enjoy the breeze....heck, who'd see you anyway if it was able to fly up?

Women in skirts ride it, so it shouldnt be a problem.

I've done a few of their coasters kilted, I dont remember a suspended one though. None I've been on were a problem.

Maybe wear a pair of black boxers underneath to be sure?

    Aye,
As Ozman1944 suggests, black boxers. But I'd pack them and only wear them if you anticipate a problem. Why kill the comfort factor in advance?
And as for women wearing skirts? That's different...in this world.

Suspended coasters typically tuck you in pretty good, so there shouldn't be any problem. You're actually likely to have more of a problem in a regular seated coaster, but even then it shouldn't be an issue.

My main problem was due to the sporran. Because I'm a bit larger than average, there wasn't room for both me and the sporran.

Thanks for all the advice. Since I'll be wearing a Utilikilt, I won't have a sporan. I'm looking forward to a great day kilted!

I only live a few miles from there. If you'd like to plan a get together, send me a PM and we'll figure something out.

A bud & I - both kilted - did the Medusa at Six Flags in NJ and yes we did have a bit of a problem with our kilts flying up. the restraint on that coaster is a shoulder harness that pressed you down while you sit in a saddle seat - which is fine if you are in jeans but in a kilt can be a little problematic...

I will keep it short by saying we were very lucky that the folks at the photo booth at the end of the ride - where they try & get you to buy a copy of the pic they snapped of you mid-ride - were not quite as attentive as they should have been & we grabbed a copy of the pic & hauled pleats outta there as quickly as possible.

and yes i do still have a copy of that pic and NO i am NOT going to post it.
    ITS A KILT, G** D*** IT!
