    A little, small, invisible help...

I'm here in Rome, looking for the 2nd occasion to wear my kilt. Monday with some friends and co-players will sign the official act to start a new team in Rome. I promise to myself (and to my wallet ) to use the kilt in all the "rugby" occasion. I just ordered a belt and buckle, and want to go out in a "pseudo" dress for the dinner before the signing act. Can I mix a classical jacket and a shirt with no tie, without go in a "style offside"?

    Thanks.

A jacket with no tie is not a problem. However, if the classical jacket is a standard suit jacket or sports coat, it is going to look bad with a kilt because it will be too long.

It might not look the classic way of wearing a kilt, but you should at least see if wearing a regular suit jacket looks good to you.

If it does, worn in a casual style, then why not?

Xabaras, could you maybe post a photo of the outfit you are planning to wear? I'm sure it help, and others could give you sound advice from that point.

I'll try to take a photo from home, anyway thanks for the fast reply! I was almost sure that the length is the biggest problem but i'll try (and then I'll buy a real jacket).

There is only a place in Rome where you can find someone in toga! Cinecitta! (if some director it's making a Peplo-movie)

If you are talking about wearing a "Normal Suit Jacket" perhaps the best thing would be to wear a waistcoat instead as it will still look dressy without looking out of place paired with the kilt.

That is exactly what I was about to suggest.

    GREAT - IDEA!!

Thanks a lot McMurdo (and Crusty too). I have a stunning one from my wedding! , and a leather one with tartan look-like back... I think I have a solution (obviously with a white shirt under...)
