looking for a formal look but not the price

Hi this is my first time posting and hope that the form is open. I have been wearing sport kilts now for a couple of years and have four of them. they are of good quality and look and I like them alot for the everyday run around. I was woundering though if their is a place that I can get a traditional look with out haveing to pay the 500.00 dollar price tag. I found some places on line, but I feel their is some that I may be missing. Just thought I would ask
    thanks

For the best look and quality in a Tartan kilt. Check out the work by Rocky and Kelly at USA Kilts. They are one of the sponsors here and you can go directly to their website by clicking above.

I'd also recommend Rocky & Kelly at USA Kilts. Great service and quality as well as selection and price.

If you want a heavier weight kilt check out stillwater. I'm still waiting on a wider selection of tartans before I own one but they are a serious contender in the market.

Try Stillwater Kilts. The standards aren't wool, but the heavyweights are. The standards run about $80, and the heavyweights hover around $100.

Kurteckelman, welcome! Where in IL do you hail from? We are really hurting for Chicago members.

Anyway, if you want a freat kilt for a good price, USAKilts is the way to go. SWK's are nice, but once you have worn the kilt for a while, you will appreciate the workmanship in a USAK, and others. Nothing against SWK's (really Jerry), it was my first kilt, but everything has its place. And for me SWK's are a good entry level kilt.

www.scottishkilts.net is selling Stewart Hunting in Polyviscoe for $75 US. It is a bargain in that price. From what I heard from other people here, they will deliver you kilt within a couple of weeks.

It depends on how many Blacktie event you go to in a year, it may be cheaper to rent the jacket from your local Scottish store.

If you don't mind buying a second hand jacket, ebay is good way to go. I bought a mint condition argyl jacket for under $100us.

I'll recomend Stillwater kilta as well. I have 3 of them and they are well made if not custom fitted kilts. Their wool heavyweights are real nice and could work pretty well for casual to formal wear. I'm hoping Stillwater adds more wool tartans to their lineup, I've been very impressed.
