    Lost Weight....Now What to do??

Ok group, here's the problem. I was measured for my 'Natural Waist' at a 44". I have lost 22 pounds over the past 3 months and could probably wear a 42" with no problem. I have two off the peg 44's right now, one from Down Under and the other arrived today from Kid Cossak. I have to wear both of them buckled up to the last notch on all of the straps and they are still too big. I can get by with the belt on as long as I tighten it up pretty good. Is there any way or a proper way to make them smaller or should I just start eating more potatoes again? Can you take a kilt to a local tailor and have it taken in a bit or what. Looking forward to answers.

Taking in a kilt is a rather easy task for a qualified tailor. If you're only talking from a 44" to 42" waist... it would be a matter of moving the buckles.

Look at it this way...all you have to do is have the buckles moved back one inch on each side...44 to 42.

One of the reasons I own so many kilts is to cover the range of weights I seem to slide up and down....

Buying more kilts is an answer....

Methinks you want to reexamine that statement. If you move the buckle back 1", you've taken the kilt in 1" - the apron overlaps, so if you want the waist taken in 2", you need to move each buckle 2".

An alternative - which is what I did with several of my Stillwaters - is to sell them as "used" to people who fit them, and buy some new ones.

My tanks from Celtic Craft Centre are being retailored by them under their "lifetime fit guarantee."

    Congratulations !
Keep it up -- you'll live longer and happier.

I have kilts that are too big for me and I don't use the buckles at all. Thread a good belt through the belt loops, wrap the kilt around yourself, pull the aprons smoothe and buckle up the belt.

Quick and easy. Comfortable and safe.

Only once did an apron get caught on a hook and pulled undone as I walked past, but nothing serious happened.

Ah but Caradoc---two sets of buckles (one of one, one of two) moved back one inch would be two inches!

    Cherokeesix:

Happy that you've lost weight, sad that the kilt doesn't fit properly, happy that the kilt arrived . . . I'm just all confused!
