MacGregor Tartan?
Can anyone tell me where I can find an inexpensive kilt in this tartan? It seems like I need to buy a tank if I want a MacGregor.
I know Sportkilt has them but have not heard good reviews on them- I'd like to wear it out of the house.
Thanks in advance
Ron

Define inexpensive..
There are many kilt makers on this very board that make 5 yard kilts, they can order the tartan for you and have it made up. I know USA kilts does these althought I don't believe they are on their web site yet. Matt Newsome does 4 yard box pleated kilts as well as 5 yard knife pleated kilts. You may want to start with those two then check some of the other kilt makers and see what they charge for 5 yarders as well as traditional 8 yard kilts.

What price range are you looking at?
Scottishkilts.net sells 5 yard kilts for $217.43 http://scottishkilts.net/products/5_...yard_kilt.html and they have the MacGregor Hunting Modern

Kiltstore.net has a variety of kilts (8 yard, 5 yard) http://kiltstore.net/sr_swhdr_fiveya...e=highlandwear in MacGregor as well. http://kiltstore.net/sr_swhdr_fiveya...tomeasure.html
Unfortunately it looks like if you want a kilt in MacGregor that you can be proud of, it may have to be in wool.

Check out the Economy kilts at Celtic Croft. You can get it in the Macgregor Modern tartan.

You could also check out the clear out racks at http://www.burnetts-struth.com/sale_items.asp and http://www.scottishclansman.com/Readymade.html both of which have had MacGregors from time to time.

Hey Ron,
SportKilts aren't THAT bad, IF you go for the sewn down pleats and custom length.

Kirkwood,
Please keep us up to date on your search. A kilt in MacGregor tartan is a dream of mine. I keep running into little roadblocks. Truck dies, kids need shoes, food needs bought.....

The Economy kilt at Celtic Croft seems to be what I'm looking for.
Can anyone tell me about the homespun wool they use for them? Also, they say that they're not tailor made but then ask for your waist, hips, and length. Since this kilt falls under the special order category, do they make it to your measurements?

Homespun is substantially courser weave than regular kilt fabric, has a somewhat rough texture.
