    Maroon

    Hello,

I was doing a bit of research into getting a new kilt, in addition to my normal one, and I came across this place - and you lot seem to know your stuff

I am after a kilt to wear when i travel abroad to support my football team (Hearts). Now I realise that as a club, we already have our own tartan, but to be perfectly honest, I am not too fond of it. I feel it is a bit too light and doesnt show off the glorious colour Maroon to the best it could be.

    The Heart of Midlothian Tartan

It would be greatly appreciated if one of you knowledgable chaps could advise me of some tartans based on the colour maroon.

    Thanks in advance,

    Fraser

I can tell you that the kilt is being worn the wrong way around in that picture!

McClef is absolutely right. That man has his kilt on backward. As for maroon tartans, there's always Lyndsay.

    crawford

Crawford resembles Lindsay, but it has a white line in it. You may find some variants ( ancient, hunting, weathered or modern,) of certain tartans may feature maroon/wine/burgundy where red otherwise appears.
Some take the high road and some take the low road. Who's in the gutter? MacLowlife

'Tis not a traditional Scottish tartan, but my kilt is in the Williams of Wales tartan...very heavy on the maroon.

House of Edgar muted red Wallace. Our local team is garnet and black, so this is perfect for game day:

So, did you hear about the ship sailing north with 5000 gallons of blue paint? It collided with a ship coming south with 7800 gallons of red paint. The sailors were marooned for months!
