So, my girlfriend's senior prom is in two weeks. I will, of course, wear my PC and kilt. The problem: which one?

As I have absolutely no eye for this, I humbly request your kind assistance.

My girlfriend will wear a dress, purse, and shoes in a colour she describes as "Either ‘Apple’ or ‘Wine.’”*

So, which kilt do ye of good eye for colour recommend?

    1) SWK heavyweight saffron
    2) SWK standard MacLaren
    3) Frugal Corner 16 oz. Clarke/Clergy
    4) Frugal Corner 13 oz. Buchanan

I would like to wear the saffron one, since that's the wool one, but I somehow suspect it won't match really well. As I said, I've no eye for these things.

*<rant> “Apple” and “wine” aren’t colours! They’re objects of commusption! Like “peach”! Just call it “dark red,” for Pete’s sake! </rant>

Wear you best kilt, in this case the Saffron one, you will look fine together.

Saffron and Wine (red/purple) will look very nice together.

The buchanan might be a little too loud.

I would go with the Saffron. It does look good with wine/maroon/burgundy (surprisingly).

When she says 'apple' does she mean 'red' or 'green'?

I have both the SK wool saffron and that same FC Clergy. Without seeing what your girlfriend will actually be wearing, I would tend to go with the latter, given the colors you are supplying. My only pause with it is how it tends to glow in bright light.

Btw, the ancient poet Homer frequently used the term "wine-colored" in the Iliad.

I'm leaning towards the saffron at this point (we're going to check the colours this weekend, so I'll suspend judgement until then). Also, I have a saffron fly plaid, so that's an obvious plus.
