Need a shirt
New Year's eve, my girl and I are going out to dinner at a semi-local pub - Aberdeen, NC, for the curious. I plan on wearing my ebay BW kilt with black hose, black Dr. Marten shoes model 1461, a black sporran, black belt with subdued buckle. Yeah, that's a lot of black - going to be glowing in the dark around my knees. It's been a bit chilly here lately and I'm thinking about wearing a sweater, but I also over heat fast if the temps aren't low enough - I'm wearing shorts during the days and it's 45 F. I guess I'm looking for either a light sweater or a long sleeve shirt, but I don't know the color. Should it be solid? Taking m' lass shopping on Sunday, but I'd like to have some previous ideas.

I wear solids.
You might try Target, if there's one near you. They've been carrying the Merona shirts with French cuffs of late, and those shirts look good with kilts.
Last I saw they had solid white, solid black, a dark solid blue, and a dark solid green.

A tartan shirt. Have seen some shirts in black Stewart tartan. Probably easier to find a Black Watch tartan shirt. Or, if you wanna offset the black a red Stewart tartan shirt.

I would go with a grey sweater and a tan button-up shirt.

I would go with a solid shirt.
You could wear white, off white, or blue, for example, the only colour I would say stay away from is green, with the Black Watch its just too much green, otherwise you should be fine with any colour you decide, would you post a picture when get the shirt,
it would be nice to see the outfit.

Any coloured shirt (even black) would go with your outfit as described. Pick out a long-sleeved shirt that you like, and you could role up the sleeves if things got really hot. Since it's a pub, I'd stay away from wearing a tuxedo shirt... button down collar is my preference.

Forget the shirt. Paint your chest blue. Sure to gain attention.
