Other options for MacFarlane

My husband and I are renewing our vows in a handfasting ceremony. I'll be wearing a modern but light blue (following irish traditional) wedding dress and I want him to wear a kilt and Jacobean shirt (as it will be daytime and not formal). My problem is this:

I really don't see him ever wearing the kilt again but once a year for the Ren Faire here in Vegas so I can't see myself spending more than $100-$200.

I have found several companies that offer non-wool (this is Vegas!)kilts for that price but am struggling with Tartan options. He is McFarland and the MacFarlane tartan is gorgeous. I would love to eventually invest in the Hunting Tartan Old Colors but just no now.

I find the Heritage of Scotland and Honor of Scotland also very nice. Part of the ceremony is him pinning the tartan sash on me and I want it to be more personal as we believe part of my family also came from Scotland. It is very meaningful and I just don't want a generic tartan.

Does anyone know what other tartans might be more readily available and still linked to MacFarlane?

Better yet, any MacFarlane looking to "recycle" his kilt?

Anything would help as I'm new to this forum and really could use some advice!

Sport Kilt has a MacFarlane Hunting kilt in PV material for about $50, though if you purchase a lot of options it could run up to over $100. It can be seen at

Downunder Kilt: Sport Kilt's web pages use the phrase, "special poly-viscose blend material", whatever that means.

If there is any truth in advertising, then I would think there must be at least some polyester/rayon in there somewhere. There might even be some acrylic, ... and it might even be coated with a Teflon-like substance for all I know. ;-)

In any case the MacFarlane I saw at the wedding looked surprisingly good in a formal setting. It didn't look cheap, or tacky, or in any way substandard, though I have to admit, I did not go up and examine it closely. Even in that case I might not have noticed anything amiss, as undiscerning as I am.
