    Quick Question/Intro

Hi fellow kilt wearers! My name is Richard, I live in Texas. I plan on buying my first kilt (going to wear it to prom). I plan on buying a Wool Heavyweight from SWK. I was wondering if shipping rates are killer or decent. Oh, if I do buy the heavyweight, will it heat me up during the summer or keep cool?

Everything about SWK is great, including the shipping. Eight bucks I think, and it arrives almost before you order it. (Really, 3-4 tops)

Kilts of pretty much any stripe are cooler than pants, especially when worn 'regimental' (maybe not a good idea for Prom).
Just today I was traipsing around in 97 degree heat and was pretty comfortable.
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.

    Right.

And I can't say enough nice things about SWK's service, and their heavyweight kilts are great... I have one in Black Watch tartan, which is really only half the sett... but that's jargon, and probably meaningless to you right now. The important thing is, SWK = good! If you do a search for 'Stillwater heavyweight review,' you'll find my thread of that sort.

Should be fine. I don't have too much problem in the heat with my SWK wool kilt. Any problem is in the belt area.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I wore an SWK Heavyweight Saffron to my prom (I'll be donning it again this spring for my girlfriend's senior prom), dressed and accessorised with the help of the rabble (thread here), and made quite a statement, if I do say so myself (pics here and here).

    There's also a thread here.
