    Red's Funeral

Guys I am planning to go the service kilted of course, but would it be appropiate to wear my prince charlie? What would one wear to such a somber occasion.

Nope, prince charlie is evening wear. Unless the funeral is formal and at night, you should wear daywear (argyll jacket).

Okay it is at 6:30 pm so not really night, so I will wear a shirt and tie with the kilt. I don't have any other jackets that will work.

A tweed argyll(or any day jacket) white shirt , black four in hand tie. Black hose are not necessary, but well polished black shoes are, but preferably not ghillie shoes and no plaid over the shoulder.I will be with you in spirit on the sad day.

Sorry no other jacket, I just finished putting a spit shine on my son's ROTC dress shoes, Saffron Kilt with matching flashes, black hose, white shirt, black tie. I want to show respect and not be a fancy peacock, so thats why I am concerned over the PC. A regular black suit coat will not work right?

The regular black suit coat is too long and will cover your pleats.
Also, it's pretty warm in AZ, so if it were up to me, I wouldn't be offended if you wore no coat, and I don't think Retro Red would, either.*

    *How's that for a triple-negative sentence?

A PC would not be right, sorry it just would not.Nor would a regular jacket. Shirt and tie perhaps--no jacket? Borrow a daywear jacket? A very dark blue or black pullover(sweater), at a push, can look smart.

How about a dark waistcoat? If you don't have a jacket, you could pick one up fairly quickly for not too many kilt-bucks.

The PC isn't really the thing for this sad event.

Thanks guys I knew in my heart the PC was not PC (Red forgive me). I'll look in Target for a waist coat I thought I read here you can find them there.

For what's it worth, my wife vetoed my wearing my suit jacket, so I'm going to be wearing my Flower of Scotland kilt, white shirt and tie (that has coordinating colors with the kilt) with the green hose I bought from Graeme at AZ Kilts. It will be the first time for me wearing flashes with hose.

BTW...it's no longer necessary to wear dark colors at funnerals. And as colorful as Red was, I don't think he'd mind bright colors either.
