    Ren Faire footwear

I intend to go kilted to the next Arizona Renaissance Festival. I'm looking for shoes or boots to wear with the kilt. Any suggestions?

We recently had a rather large thread about this... which includes several suggestions for mideval-type footwear. There's also a thread with suggestions about more formal footwear.

My pleasure. When the Faire rolls around, we should coördinate a day to be there... I have a blast every year, and my former partners for going seem to have bailed on me for this year. We might even be able to set up a kilt day with the Sonoran Scotsmen.

At least one other of the crew I go with goes kilted. We'll have to see what we can set up.

Huarachi sandals! The tire tread might be a bit recent, but the effect would make it less noticeable

    If everybody had an ocean
    Across the u.s.a.
    Then everybodyd be surfin
    Like californi-a
Youd seem em wearing their baggies
    Huarachi sandals too
    A bushy bushy blonde hairdo
    Surfin u.s.a.

The front-lace ones were very popular when I was in high school, and I even owned a pair. They were comfortable, and I wore 'em pretty much full-time for more than a year. I think, were I to buy a pair now, I'd go with the side-lace, just for something a little different.

I've been looking at the Celtic Croft boots as well, if only because of the price.
