    ring belt?

I see in the "do's and don'ts" thread, that most of you lot don't care for a ring belt style of belt. Would they work better on a great kilt??
I've always liked the tied-up look of a ring belt. What is it you guys don't like about them? Too Ren. faire-ish?

Ring belts really aren't good for anything outside the faire, IMHO. They aren't even period appropriate, they loved buckles in the Middle Ages, and they knew how to make them. But you can still have the tied look, because because they did do that. The belt was long, and after it was buckled the excess was tied off.

I wouldn't trust a ring belt to hold up my greatkilt, either. I'd be afraid of it slipping.

A ring belt is a belt with a ring on the end, in place of a buckle. More practical is the double ring belt, which does in fact hold better than the single.

I like the leather pants. The belt...not so much.
