    Saffron Flashes

I've got a Stillwater Irish Saffron kilt and have been trying to find some saffron flashes. I'm having a heck of a time trying to locate anyone who sells them on the internet. Have any of you folks purchased saffron flashes. Would appreciate any help.

Boy, I've learned the hard way to order my flashes when I have the kilt made...otherwise might get color matching problems. Seems like the best bet would be from the kiltmaker. If they beg off on flashes maybe you can buy some scraps from them and make your own....? At least the color shade would be right....or close....

Maybe Jerry will add the Saffron flashes to his stock!

If not, he may be able to get some "scraps" from his supplier so you may make some!

    Send him a note.

I always buy flashes when I buy the kilt now. But, as you know Jerry doesn't have any saffron flashes available. So, I'm just hoping that he'll add some to his new catalogue this year.

He's working on getting saffron plaids and neck ties, so I'm sure flashes will come before long.

I bought a pair of flashes from the Tartans Museum gift shop. They were supposed to be yellow to go with my Gordon stripe, but turned out to be a yellowish goldish color, sort of like the inside of a butternut squash (ish). Fortunately, they go very well with the saffron. I actually think a complementary color usually looks better in a flash than the same color.

Last time I looked at his site he had both of those already.

If you're not having much luck finding ready made flashes, You might try looking in fabric stores for something compatible. They're not that difficult to make... even for a klutz like me.

I've read your "flashes" construction instructions. Very informative. I just wonder how hard it would be to find the matching colour.

I'm with Ron on finding a complimentary colour... adds contrast.
Although, saffron coloured on top of something dark would likely look neat (or harsh...I don't know personally, these are just thoughts). I am hoping to buy red flashes to go with a handful of kilts... complimentary/contrasting for my Gordon modern kilts, it'll match my Ulster, and my Muir, and my Gordon red, and not clash with my weathered Lamont (lots of neutrals in there). That's just how my thought process goes.

You could always get strips of cloth, and tie it in a bow knot, and then fold your hose over it. Not entirely an inaccurate way to do things.
