Silly Question for Kilted Golfers

I'm not a regular golfer either, but I would think that as long as you don't follow the example of many Xmarks members and pack your sporran with everything but the kitchen sink that the light weight of a sporran would not be an issue when golfing. The more stuff in a sporran the heavier it is and the heavier it is the more it impedes. I would also think a heavy sporran would hurt more when it swings up, as it will come back down.

Besides do you really need a cell phone, blackberry, keys, wallet, iPod, smokes, lighter, flask, glasses, book, road map, tire iron, Swiss army knife, broadsword, towel, stapler, etc,etc all at the same time? I only carry what I would in the pockets of my jeans.

I must keep my towel......if I have my towel I can surely borrow anything else I need from Colin's list

I have played kilted in an annual tournament put on by Hero's pub in Annapolis, MD since 2002. Always worn my sporran. Never noticed any problem at all.

The only problem i noticed with my sporran was that, due to my metal tassels, i made quite a noise whilst walking about. But it's a great place to keep your tees!

I never had a problem with the sporran getting in the way. However, my old golfing buddies wouldn't stand behind me while I was swinging away, something about the pleats flying out when swinging.....

The very best thing I did for my golf game was throwing my clubs in the dumpster. I never looked back....Haven't played since!

I've played golf in my kilt before and always with my sporran. But, I also kept my sporran load light when playing. When using good form, the sporran is not a distraction. I no longer golf because of back problems.

Played kilted on seven occassions. Never have worn a sporran while golfing. Kinda feel it's just one more thing to figure out when addressing the ball. (course maybe I should wear one. I'd have something else to blame....)

And I don't need it to carry anything on the course, I've got a golf bag that I haven't even figured out what a third of the pockets are for anyway.

I sliced a ball so badly one time, I almost shot a one for the course. i hit the ball from the first tee and it landed on the eighteenth green.

I regularly golf kilted. I've only worn a sporran once and I didn't like it. It stayed in the car. Now that I have 5 utilikilts, I usually play in one of them.
