Size of Box Pleat

The kilt I'm making will be Stuart of Bute Red pleated to the stripe. I know the box pleat is not supposed to be smaller than 2". But- What is worse? 1 7/8" pleats that meet in the middle of the back of the pleat, or 2" pleats with a gap in the back of the pleat? Thanks for any insight!

Assuming a 5.625" sett ... what about 2.8125" alternating pleats?
An uneven number of pleats would work best for that option.
If you have 4.5 - 5yrds of material ... what about 3.25" pleats that overlap in back?

You could also have really wide pleats, and have just three or four of them.
