    Sizing Blunder

Well, I received my first kilt ever from Stillwater kilts. Its really a very nice economy kilt. However I bungled it on the size somehow. I'm a 41 around the navel and somehow I ordered a 44. Please tell me there is some way I can alter the size down. I dont want to send it back and have been wearing it by folding the waist in a bit. and having the straps cinched to the max. Can anyone give me a hand here ?

    Thanks

Talk to Jerry about sending it back! That's much easier thaan trying to alter the size. Folded at the waist puts an awful lot of cloth ariund you.

If you've been wearing it, I assume you took the basting stitches out. If you took the basting stitches out, there's no sending it back. You should be able to adjust the buckles/straps in enough to make that one fit though.

I do not pretend to be a kilt maker, but as the stitches are out, would it be possible to move the buckles a wee tad to take up at least some of the slack?

It's not too tough a job, but with only limited range of effect. Getting 3-4 inches may be a bit too much - the apron starts wandering all the way around your hip.

I adjusted my Stillwater Nightstalker, but was only able to pull in about 2 inches... and the apron is about as far around the sides as I could tolerate. Now I either have to have the apron adjusted, or buy new.

Guess I shouldn't complain - I AM getting the weight off!

3-4 inches is doable. Barb T has posted that she has seeen at least that much done.

I took my Stillwater in about 3 inches and it looks fine. I just moved the inner apron strap and the outer apron buckle. Took about 5 minutes.

Everything I've read about and heard from Jerry suggests that seeing if he will take it back is the best option.
