Ladies and Gentlemen of XMarks,
I once again come to you seeking information and opinions!

Whilst having Father's Day dinner at my parents house, the topic of Highland Games came up and I told my siblings that I'm going to the local games, whoever should like to join me is welcome. At which point my youngest brother (age 11, going 12 this year) turns to me for the following: "I've been meaning to ask, where can I buy a kilt? I think I would like one, they seem just grand." This is of course the result of my recent wedding and observing my husband strutting his stuff in his kilt. When I explained to him that a proper kilt is far more money than his piggy bank can afford, he was disappointed until I offered to procure a SWK Youth Kilt for him. However, I've been informed that he carries an abundance of items in his pockets. Which leads to my question, what sort of sporran do you get for an 11yr old boy? Could I just get a regular sporran, or are there smaller options out there? How about chains and belts?

I eagerly await any information that you fine people have.

You know, I'm not really sure! Around 5 feet, give or take. I can get an exact height measurement from my dad.

My son, Celt_Gravity Rebel is around 5'4 and wears the large youth kilt from Stillwater.

He uses the youth sporran from there, and also has a cell phone case he clips on his belt. (It's difficult to see how small his sporran is because he personalized it by gluing a deer tail on it.

You may want to consider the Nightstalker Sporran from Stillwater . It's a bit on the large side, but it's practically a cartoon bag as far as how much stuff you can actually cram into the thing.

The SWK Nightstalker sporran is a great day sporran. My nephew is 12 years old and has a nightstalker and he loves it, especially when doning it for school. Plenty of room for lunch money and whatever else 12 year old boys take to school. He's about 5 ft. It looks fine on him, not overly big.

From the sporrans I've seen, and if he's anything like I have been for about the past 20 years or so (I've recently started reducing how much I carry around with me), I think the Nightstalker is a good suggestion. When wearing them, I actually USE cargo pants, and regularly fill the pockets on my UK original....

You may want to consider the Nightstalker Sporran from Stillwater . It's a bit on the large side, but it's practically a cartoon bag as far as how much stuff you can actually cram into the thing.

Before I had to get off the Interwebz, change into a kilt, and leave work (!) to go the the Saint Andrew's Society monthly meeting, I was having the same thought. The black nylon version in particular, if cost is an issue. It's not really "big-looking" in terms of height and width, but the design is such that it holds an insane amount of stuff.

I think it's a very good option to consider.

I don't have a nightstalker sporran, yet from what others have said (on many threads) that is the way to go if you need to carry a lot. I tend to carry as little as possible, but still always wish I had more room.

So I checked out the nightstalker sporran and I thought it would do fine, but when I showed it to my brother, he asked for something a little more fancy, "So I can wear it to church." So we've opted for the 3 tassel black leather sporran for starters, with the nightstalker being saved for Christmas. I just hope this fits him! Thank you all for responding with such promptness and with such enthusiasm. The order is placed, let the jones begin!
