I think MacLaren would be a better contrast to Black Watch.

I, for one, am VERY happy with my heavyweight SWK. It's one of my go-to kilts for when I'm out and casual. It's right around the same price range at $130.

I don't know anything about ALTKilt, they might be awesome, just letting you know that I really like my HW SWK. I got the black "shadow" tartan, and it looks awesome.

    Happy hunting, and post pics!

i love the SWK HW's BUT!!! im waiting till i drop a lot of weight before i buy one... i like the thrifty kilts jerry has, its great for knocking about, i can wear it at the waist and not look "funny" for a very casual look lol my wife isnt exactly too keen on me wearing em to church and work related functions.

Personally I would push for the SWK HW it's still cheap for a kilt and it is om quality. The thrifty feels like having a light weight towel on, I would never go outside in mine.

I second the hesitation to settle for the lighter weight kilts from SWK. I love, love SWK, but I have the thrifty (I think) in the Irish National tartan that I usually bust out for St. Patrick's day, and let's just say that wind is an area of concern.

I haven't been tipped yet, but I'm pretty sure that I've given some complete strangers a free show or two!

Just something to consider while purchasing a kilt.
