That's it... my next kilt will be a...

I have decided on stillwater kilts as my next purchase. With their new "Nightstalker" tartan , the better fringe, the availability of fly plaids, and the cheap price, I should be getting a standard stillwater in the not to far future. Just gotta rake some leaves or something to get the cash...
But it will take long time cause of dumb christmas. I have 6 people to shop for, and none of them is buying me a kilt. They are all getting lumps of coal...

Looks very nice in the photo, I do like the larger fringe, does the wool look a little coarse though?

I noticed that one in their Ebay store earlier tonight. I thought the tartan looked pretty good too. I'll have to see if I can get the Irish National economy kilt I just bought from them to look right before I buy another one of their kilts, though. I'm not sure how happy I am with it yet.

I thought, at first glance Graham, that the kilt has a double fringe, but there is no mention of that on the website. However, it does tell us that the fabric is Acrylic - not wool. That tells me everything I need to know - and explains the pricing!

Acrylic? hard to imagine, poly vis I'll wear but not sure about acrylic.
My next kilt is wool, natural fabrics are really nice.

I too like natural fabrics Graham, and though people who's opinion I trust shout out the virtues of poly-vis I would like to personally see a kilt made from it first before I commit to a kilt made from it.

Acrylic and polly viscose are both similar.

    smoother than my polly viscose.

That's VERY wise. Might I suggest that you take the opinions of those with MORE than poly-viscose kilts to have a little more weight. You actually need to wear and maintain kilts for more than one or two materials, by one or two companies before you have any idea what the differences are.

As for Stillwater's materials: unless you have one, you really can't make a comment... and please don't. That's what starts CR_P information in the threads. I've modified about a dozen of them, and the material's really nice (especially for the money). It's MUCH thicker than poly-viscose, sews-up easier, tapers better, and is washable.

    Swat... congratulations on the choice!
