Thinner material for summer

Does anyone know where I could get hold of a kilt with a poly/cotton mix for those scorching days? Havn't been able to find any in the UK yet.

You can check the USAKilts "Casual" listings of tartans. I know that there used to be a few cotton/poly and poly/twill materials. They're all listed next to the pictures.

Otherwise, you can go the SportKilt route. They have the THIN materials, but then you're not getting what many consider to be a kilt. They're not made very well... but then you're not paying much either.

I like Poly viscose kilts, a 4 yard casual is great in summer weather.

You can find that material from Bear Kilts, USA Kilts or Cheapkilts.

Why is everyone thinking about summer kilts when it's freezing winter here??

same reason you were going on about your hikes while the rest of us were trying to thaw our butts out here a few months ago. Don't think all that talk at pictures on the beach didn't make you a candidate for some revenge.

Did I mention how hot it was here last week.......whew, thank goodness for poly/viscose kilts....

Hmmmn! I was about to mention A.S. Campbell also, Benji. I know nothing about their quality, but it HAS to be reasonable at that price (£160). Tartanwear-direct.com also has poly-viscose, 4 yard kilts, but at £32.00 there can be no comparison with the Campbell version - can there?

If you order from outside the UK, be warned that you could be liable for VAT, Import Duty, etc. when the kilt is delivered!

As Hamish as said many times - you get what you pay for. I bought a "cheapie" from Tartanwear-Direct some time ago and if you don't mind it being made from what appear to be remnants, apron fringe not matching the apron tartan, and it not being pleated-to-sett, then it's fine. However, next time I buy I'll take Hamish's advice.

go for a bear kilt!!!
I had mine on the other day, it was 30oC and humid (86oF) here in Ontario on Canada day , july 1st.
went for a hike in the woods with the dog. it was very cool. I don't like to wear a kilt in the summer coz it's too darn hot here. but now I got my 4 yard nova scotia kilt from bear, I don't mind it.
plus you can not beat the price.less than 50 pounds
don't let the price fool ya, this is a propper kilt.
also this guys customer service is excellent.
