    totally bizarre request...button pictures.

Yes, this is me, making this request.

If you have an Argyll or Crail jacket that does NOT have silver buttons on it, would you be so kind as to snap a picture of these buttons and post one or two?

If you happen to have a charcoal crail/argyll/braemar and they have those brown bone (imitation bone) buttons, then no need to bother, I know what those look like.

    Thanks, in advance.

Alan, just checked all my jackets (6) and they all have the same buttons as yours, bar one which has black backing to the plastic bone instead of the normal white. I have seen real bone buttons for sale on Ebay when searching for kilt jackets. I think they are about a quid each.

Here are the horn buttons on my brown Harris Tweed Argyll

Here are the wooden buttons on my Burns Check Argyll

    Hope these help.

    Alan,

Leather buttons are really nice! That is what I have in my daywear jacket. They're old but new if you get my drift. They have been around forever but went out of style and are now making a comeback. I went into a local menswear shop and the sales guy said to me "You may like our new jacket line. We have a slightly different cut. Which is double vented in the back and these new modern black leather buttons." In the boy's defense he did seem rather young! LOL!

I have two sets (3 for each cuff and two for the "belly") you can have. One set is brown, the other black. They both came from gray tweed jackets, one converted and one not. The brown ones are in good shape and the black ones are like new. I just don't dig them so I replaced them.

If you want them I'll mail them to you. No charge. I'd be happy to see them get used by someone else instead of sitting in my sewing box with no future.

You'll likely call these silver, but they are available in brass and bronze too...

Note to self: Must remember the pleaty bit goes at the back...
