    UK alterations

I have two UK's that are too large in the waist. Can anyone comments on your experience with getting a UK waist taken in? The butt is fine, so I'm only in need of the waist adjustment.

Could any good tailor/seamstress that could alter a pair of pants be able to handle one of these kilted-garments?

    Thanks!

I had my Mocker taken in. It was an inch bigger than my Survival and didn't stay up that well and I had to bunch the material when buckling it. The seamstres took in 1/2 inch on each side and it wasn't noticeable on the outside, but the belt loop that lines up on the apron was off, so she had to move it over.

It probably couldn't be taken in more than an inch, but ask a seamstres and see. If it is too much bigger, perhaps selling it and using the money for another would be a better option.

It's not a terribbly complex alteration, just time consuming.

If you have any of the models without snaps on the waistband all the better.
It also helps if you don't have the back set-in pocket.

Not impossible if those are there just harder.

I'm not sure your run-of-the-mill seamstress can handle the job, but if you have one who is really sharp it's not too bad.

If you need step-by-step instructions, you can pm me or e-mail me and I'll try to outline the process.

    Overwhelming!

Thanks Steve (and Dale)... I'm a bit overwhelmed by all that, but then I've never tried to alter a pair of pants either. So, maybe to a good seamstress, this would not be so confusing. I'll be sure to carry your detailed instructions with me when I go hunting for one!

BTW, UK still has their 33% discount on new UK's when you trade in a used (but in good condition) model. Still, I guess it's cheaper to go with alterations, if I can find a brave(hearted) tailor!

    Thanks again,

    Michael
