What Color Jacket?

I'm wondering about what color Argyll jacket I should get. I would like it to coordinate with my US Army tartan, but would like it to be more versatile than just one kilt. Of course, a dark green would look okay, but I don't have anything else to wear with a green jacket right now. Obviously, black or charcoal would be alright, but I already have jackets in those colors and would like something else. I'm thinking a navy jacket would look alright, and could be worn with my other kilts.

Here's some pictures of the tartan of the kilt. Do you all think navy would be okay?

I agree on the Navy color. I tend to replicate the impression of the uniforms when coordinating something with a military signifigance. What about a tan or Kahki color?

it's hard for me to tell the exact color with my monitor but I would try to match that thin stripe of brown/tan that borders the blues.

So you could wear a brown jacket, kilt, same colored hose with tartan or green flashes, blk belt/shoes, sporran of choice. It should look very sharp.

I had originally thought of the Bottle Green, since it's an Army kilt, why not use the Army color. However, as I said, I wouldn't have anything else to wear with that color. And yes P1M, that would be a lot of green.

Tan/Khaki aren't offered in this case, so that will have to wait for a later time.

Any color in the sett of the kilt would be fine. The blue and yellow might be a bit bright for a jacket and you already have green. You have eliminated black and grey, so that leaves kahki as your other best neutral.

A dark blue jacket would have a military significance, as the uniform color for the US Army from the Revolution to the First World War was blue. About the time of the Spanish-American/Philippine Wars (1898-1902), the Army began to adopt Khaki uniforms.

There is blue in some of the current Army uniforms as well. Of course, the basic service uniform is green, but there are the dress blues and the blue evening mess uniform.

Because I am an Army veteran and still work for the Army as a civilian, I wanted a jacket to wear for dressier events. I already have a formal black jacket, so I wanted something to wear for less formal occasions, hence an Argyll jacket, but I can still dress it up if desired.

My vote is for the "old army" blue.
