If you want to match, then blue, green or black shirt. But then, black shirt, dark-ish tartan and black hose may be too much. Maybe the flashes matching the shirt?

It's a Christmas party so why not go with red flashes?

Red flashes and a white shirt with a red tie. You did say semi formal after all.

all black may be too much
That's what I was thinking. I don't care much for the look of black hose anyway (just my personal opinion)... it looks to my eye like regular Saxon dress socks. You can't see the turndowns very well, and since black is always a slimming color, it makes the legs appear too thin. If you don't want to go with colored hose, then a charcoal grey or ash grey would do the trick nicely.

I'm wearing black hose right now, so-

Anyways, I just reread my earlier reply. I really meant to stress the white shirt over everything. White shirts always go a long way towards spiffing up an outfit, regardless of the accessories you go with.

I also like the white shirt idea if it's "kind of" dressy. You can always do a Xmas tie or maybe just a red tie. (I have a famous Xmas bow tie with red flashing lights, but that's a bit much for an office party. Kids love it, though.)

I also am not a fan of black socks. Too much black on a grown man looks a bit goth-like. I would suggest navy blue or some color, and you can add flashes to great effect.

BTW, the sporran is very nice.

Navy hose work well with Black Watch as does Bottle Green. Black not so well in my opinion. Red flashes always work with it too and White shirt goes with everything as previously stated.
