What to wear with a black shadow tartan?

OK, so I bought a SWK black shadow tartan HW kilt.

I haven't worn it yet because ... I really don't know what to put with it that would look good.

Patterned shirt? Solid shirt? Black leather? Brown leather?? I'm kinda lost here.

    Any suggestions?

You could join Clan Destine and wear all black. Perhaps a gray shirt and hose for a subdued look, or if you are feeling a bit more daring perhaps red shirt and hose. As for the leathers, any would work so long as they are matching.

I have the same one. It's BLACK----darn near anything goes with black. I especially like red for a color punch. Feeling gloomy---go all black. Look in a mirror----if you like it, wear it.

I went to a dinner in mine and wore a black jacket, slightly patterend white shirt, black tie, white hose and black shoes. I thought it looked OK.

    Thank you all ...

Thanks for your suggestions. I had thought of all black (shirt, hose, shoes, leather) but I haven't tried it yet.

I even contemplated it for Burns Night to get that 'Tuxedo look' with my Argyll jacket but the wife put the brakes on that.

Maybe I'll put together a few looks, post pics and see what y'all think.

    Thanks again for your input,

    Ray

Definately go all black. The ladies will notice you more than all the other peacock-coloured kilties around you. But no, not for something like a Burns celebration.

    Ray,

I will see if I can dig up some pictures of me in mine.

THe SWK Black Shadow works best with black hose.

I have gone all black, but have also had success with a variety of solid contrasting shirts and matching flashes. I have also been able to wear pattern shirts with it that have looked quite smart.

    Cheers
