Wife does not like me in a kilt

I am new to kilting, we are on vacation and I thought or hopped that I could try wearing my kilts. My wife is not very enthused with my kilting, she said I look like a Dork and made a crack about cross dressing, so unless I go to Celtic Games by myself, I not sure but I think my kilting days have been short.

Wear it out to a pub one night. Make sure wife is along. She'll see how much attention you get in the kilt. This may change her mind about the kilt or at least make her hate the kilt for jealousy reasons instead of 'dork' reasons.

Start making cracks about some outfits making her look fat and how YOU don't like them on her.

She will either get your point and be quiet, or not. If not, point out to her the double standard.

One's respect for another person is shown in how you treat that person. Your wife should respect you enough to overlook her opinion of the kilt and be happy that you enjoy the kilt.

    that will get you killed

Communication is key. If you told your wife that you liked kilts and wanted to wear them without reason and you don't appreciate her wise arse remarks. She may ease up. She doesn't need to love what you wear but women are pretty good at being compassionate. And like was said above she will see the other women paying you attention and that may get her more hot on kilts.

I hear Brad Paisley's The Fishing Song (I'm Gonna Miss Her) striking up.

There are several long threads along this line on the forum. Not sure what the best search term would be (I'd start with "wife" and see what happens) but worth seeing how others have asked and had the question addressed.

Comes down to mutual respect and willingness to compromise -- on both sides. Alan H's posts are particularly insightful.
