Xmarks kilts
I've heard about people wearing their Xmarks kilts. I want one! Where does one get an Xmarks kilt?

The Fabric in the X Marks the Scot.com Tartan is a special weave. We have had a run of it for each of the last three years. Please see the X Marks Propaganda Section of this forum.
It is up to each person who orders the fabric to arrange for a kiltmaker. I have made some, as have Barb, Matt, Rocky, Kathy Lare, Howie Nicklesby, and a host of non-professionals.
To see what the Tartan looks like have a peek at the wallpaper of this site.
To see what a kilt looks like I have pictures on my site under the Tartan Model or simply so a search for some of the wonderful kilts people have shared pics of.

If you are interested in getting a X Marks the Scot tartan kilt without waiting for another large custom run, here's what you do:
1. Post on this forum that you are looking for cloth. It may be that someone has cloth left over that they are not using that you could snag at a reasonable rate.
2. Then contact your kiltmaker of choice.
If that doesn't yeild results, I can have the tartan woven for you in a small run for a single kilt. It'll be more expensive, admiteddly, but you won't have to wait for another large bulk order to be organized.
I can make one of my four yard box pleated kilts in custom woven heavy weight wool for $480. That would be your least expensive option, though if you want a standard 8 yard kilt, that would be an option, as well (twice as much cloth).

You could get in touch with Peter at Canadian Casual Kilts, I'm sure he has some left. Here is my review of the X-Marks tartan kilt he made up for me this summer

So, Nighthawk, are you gonna take the plunge and get yourself an X-Marks kilt? Cool!

There's also another option (the route I'm in the middle of.) The weaver who makes the cloth (out of Canada) had a run of 16 oz. tartan in which a good portion was damaged. However, he does have (or did) some left from that batch that has no damage. As a result of the damage to the rest of the cloth, he is selling it at $16 CAD a meter. I've aquired enough for a kilt at a SUPER low cost. It's in the top of my closet just waiting until I can send it off to be transformed into a kilt.

Thanks for the lead, Bradley! Did you order directly from them or did you have to use their USA representative given on that site?

Thanks for the information guys.... I've been wondering how one obtains an XMarks kilt. I'll be checking on the damaged roll as well. Thanks Tattoo Bradley.

My tartan came from the damaged roll, if you take a look at the link I posted you will see there was nothing wrong with the fabric that was sent out to Pete.

I purchased a bit of the damaged fabric.
It did have quite a number of small nicks
to the selvedge. Rather than hem it I
chose to repair the selvedge. It took a
lot of time (in the neighborhood of 12
hours of hand stitching) but I did it
during my lunch hours over a couple
weeks, so it wasn't painful. The
repair is almost invisible, except in
one particularly bad spot which will
end up in the under-apron.
I haven't started making the kilt yet,
but I have no doubt that it will be as
fine a kilt as I can make regardless
of the original damage.
