Your sage advice....
What would the consensus be regarding the wearing of this jacket to a formal occassion?

Thank you.

That jacket is just dead sexy! How formal is the occasion? That looks almost like a white-tie-only-event kind of formal! I want one but would never have the opportunity to wear it! By the way,

Your sage advice
Nighthawk,
Thank you for both the welcome and the comments. I agree it is a very good looking jacket. I don't really have a specific event in mind, I just really like the look and cut of the jacket. What's more I really want one! Minor issue with the price however......

from Arizona. To Answer your question- probably not, I cannot think of what formal occasion it would be appropriate for. But other here may know.

I agree that for most formal events, it would be out of place. I've been to many a dinner or performance where the dress code was pretty loose - where attendees might wear everything from suits and day dresses to tuxes and gowns. I could see how having something like that in your closet would be fun to pull out for just such times.
But I'm really curious now about that kilt in the cream-colored tartan it is being shown with...

I'd have to agree with Rex and others and say while this may be a good bit of whimsy, I'm just not sure where or when you would wear that particular ensemble. I've never seen anything like it at any function I've been at.

You might want to consider it for a wedding if you want to outshine the bride. On the other hand.......... perhaps not!

It's a stunner, I'll grant; sort of an ice-cream suit twist on a streamlined Jacobite or Sherrifmuir style.
But where you could wear it that it wouldn't put you over the top . . that's a puzzler . . maybe one of those pastel lawn parties that you see upperclass Brits attending in the movies!
